Gerry and his team were a big part of my childhood. Stingray and Thunderbirds were released when I was only a year old, and reruns on TV down here continued right throughout my school days. Not sure exactly why they became a cult hit (though I have some guesses), but I’m glad Gerry got something out of it in the way of residuals and merchandising.

Seems like his ex wife took him on the residuals when he paid her off. However he was responsible for Space 1999 one of the unsung great scifi programs of the 1970’s.

I gather that the poor guy’s health had been fading for a while.
I know it was shakey puppet animation, and low budget actors with wobbly sets, but he achieved a hell of a lot.

Happy Christmas (or should that be new year now!) to you and the family.

As we all get older more of our childhoods starts to fade away. What is amazing is Dr Who is older than I am.
